First Release of New Dialog Platform Now Available, Hello to ProQuest Dialog

Dialog [has] launched the first release of the ProQuest Dialog service, an important milestone toward unifying Dialog and DataStar while simplifying access and searching of their breadth of content. The move emphasizes ProQuest’s continuing investment in reinventing the acclaimed brand.

“Our prime directive was to improve ease of use without sacrificing search precision,” said Lynn Christie, Dialog VP of Product Management.

The development process took 18 months.

The first release of ProQuest Dialog is intended for pharmaceutical and biomedical researchers in corporate and government organizations. It offers subscription-based access to databases from some of the world’s most trusted publishers , such as Embase, BIOSIS Previews, MEDLINE, SciSearch, Adis Reactions, and IMS R&D Focus. Automatic text translation of search results, left-hand truncation, iterative filtering and date histograms are among the advanced features that enhance search.

ProQuest Dialog is built on the same technology infrastructure as the new ProQuest platform and has been developed in tandem.

The next major release, scheduled for late 2010, will add more scientific, technical and medical content to meet the needs of scientists and engineers in a wide range of R&D-driven organizations. Additional releases will follow in 2011...
