Updated Info: Re: Dan Clancy, Google Book Search Engineering Director, Heading to YouTube; Will Still Be "Involved" in "Key" Google Book Decisions

On Friday, we posted that the Google engineering director and perhaps the top spokesperson for Google Book Search and the Library Scanning Project, Dan Clancy, was heading to a new role at YouTube.

We just received an email with an official statement from Google saying that Mr. Clancy will now be lead engineer at YouTube but will continue to be "involved" in "key" areas of Google Book Search/Library Partner/Book Partner and Google Editions programs.

James Crawford will become lead engineer on the projects Dan Clancy is vacating.

Here's the official statement from Jeannie Hornung at Google:

Google engineering director Dan Clancy is taking responsibility for YouTube engineering. In the coming months, he will continue to be involved in key technology and business issues for Google Books. Engineering director James Crawford will continue to oversee engineering for Google Editions, the Google Books Library Project and the Google Books Partner Program.

Btw, our post from Friday includes Mr. Clancy's bio along with a couple of articles and two presentations he gave re: Google Books.
