Reference: Statistics: The Ups and Downs of Social Networks (Graphs & Lists)
The following graphs and lists/rankings are from a BBC News item. All data via Nielsen.
1. Graph: Social Networks, June 2009 & June, 2010 (Unique Audience)
Data from Nielsen for the Following Countries: U.S., UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, Australia.
Note: Even with the amazing amount of attention, publicity (much of it free) and use Twitter gets, it's audience is still nowhere near (not even close) via Facebook. Of course, bigger by know means automatically means better. You can also easily see the growth of Facebook vs. Twitter in the past year. Also, interesting to see the unique visitor total on Flickr move downward just a bit. With all of the content being added to The Commons, you would think more people would be visiting Flickr to view it, tag it.
2. Top 5 Social Networks by Country
U.S., UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, Australia.
Interesting to see Brazil with Orkut in the number one space but not on any of the other lists. Orkut is a Google product.
Note:
Nielsen do not class Flickr and Twitter as social networks, these sites are not included in their top five above.
3. Time Spent of Facebook, June 2009 and June 2010
