Weekend Fun and Library Laughter! Vote for Your Favorite Library/Librarian Video

Caroline Eisenmann at The Huffington Post has assembled nine library/librarian videos and is asking readers to rate each one.

The article is titled, "Librarians Go Gaga: 9 Of The Funniest Library Videos Ever."

Eisenmann writes:

We all love our local library. Big shelves full of books and good air conditioning make them a summer go-to location.

Yet recently libraries have been in danger. In the face of government budget deficits, many have begun to see libraries as a cut-able expense.

Clearly, these critics don't see what we see. They must be missing something. Maybe just... a little Lady Gaga?

It's likely you've seen some, most, or all of them but now it's time to rate each one. Have fun!

1. Welcome to the Library

2. Librarians Do Ga Ga

3. Conan the Librarian

4. Betty Glove Library Workout Tape Ad

5. Library Musical

6. Who You Gonna Call?

7. Dewey Decimal Rap

8. Roving Librarians, the M. A. P. H. A. T

9. The Librarian Dialogues

One Final Thought

We love to see libraries and librarians mentioned in stories like this especially when it can help shatter some of the stereotypes that never seem to go away. Plus, the author also points out how important libraries are to have and be able to use.

Our only (minor) complaint (we don't want to spoil the fun today) is if the public (including journalists) could realize that the library is more than books and a cool place to unwind during the summer (the library as the relaxation center for the public is another issue). It is those things but it's so much more.

We're preaching to the choir but the only way this is going to change is by each of us speaking up and explaining/showing/demonstrating (not being quiet) what we're talking about. Pick a few examples and simply start talking and showing. Friends and family are good places to begin.

A lot of the talk around social media in the last year has been around information overload. Social media has provided us with new and exciting ways to create content.
