New: Mobile App for The University of Auckland Library
he free app became available in the app store on Friday. It's available for iPhone, ITouch, and the iPad. It was developed by Boopsie, a company continuing to make a name for itself in the library community developing apps for libraries and the library events.
The University of Auckland Library app provides searchable access to their catalogue, ability to recall and place requests for items, and access to library info.
Boopsie, based in the Bay Area, provides apps for several other libraries including Seattle Public and Santa Clara County, California
Boopsie also provides an app for OCLC WorldCat.
The app is one of the two ways of accessing the database. You can also get to WorldCat from any mobile web browser using the URL: www.worldcat.org/m/
Finally, kudos and thanks to Boopsie for providing very useful apps for ALA and CLA. It was a pleasure being able to walk around ALA and not have having heavy program to lug around. The directory of exhibitors continues to be useful after the event. Hopefully, services like this will become commonplace and save a few trees. (-:
