No More Fees: WiFi Access (and More) at Starbucks Becomes Free Beginning July 1, 2010
Yet another fee-based service becomes free.
Beginning July 1, 2010 Internet access at Starbucks (U.S. company owned stores only) becomes free and in the Fall of this year Starbucks is partnering with Yahoo to create the Starbucks Digital Network that will provide free access to what otherwise would be fee-based content.
Starbucks joins Borders and Barnes & Noble in making a fee-based wifi service and making it free.
This online experience – available only in U.S. company operated Starbucks stores – will be unique in its content offerings, allowing customers free unrestricted access to various paid sites and services such as WSJ.com, exclusive content and previews, free downloads, local community news and activities, on their laptops, tablets or smart phones.
