Until recently, the library was located in cramped quarters in one room of the Monroe Borough Building on Dalpiaz Drive, said Beth Williams, a member of the library's board of trustees.
However, another room of equal size became available to the library last year, when BLaST Intermediate Unit 17 moved its alternative education program out of the building, she said.
The library has had to "slash quite a few hours," due to a cut in state funding, Brown said.
The reduced schedule will go into effect this Monday, she said.
Until now, the library had been open 35 hours per week, according to written information provided by the library,
Starting on Monday, the library will be open 24 hours per week, according to the written information.
The new hours are: Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Brown said.
An open house was held on June 5 to show the renovations to the public.
