New Online: World Development Indicators 2010 via World Bank Along with New Open Data Initiative
Looking for a lot of potentially useful and authoritative data? You've come to the right place. The World Development Indicators and the new Open Data Initiative provide improved access, organization, and usability for more than 900 indicators.
The WDI database, launched along with the World Bank’s Open Data initiative to provide free data to all users, includes more than 900 indicators documenting the state of all the world’s economies. The WDI covers education, health, poverty, environment, economy, trade, and much more.
The Data Catalog provides download access to over 2,000 indicators from World Bank data sources.
The Data Catalog can be accessed here. Look for tabs for database and tables. We were also able to access some data online by selecting the "Databank" link and interactively finding the data points we were in need of.
Content can also be downloaded into: excel; csv; xml; sdmx formats as well as API format.
Open Data is about accessibility. With the launch of data.worldbank.org we step up the effort to open the World Bank's data catalogs to direct and easy access via the web. During 2010, we will roll out two waves of web functionality that will serve as a platform for this push.
