Updated iPhone Apps from Gale and SirsiDynix

First, while we were updating some iPhone apps today we noticed that Gale's AccessMyLibrary app (AML) added 600 more "local libraries" to allow users to have more options when locating the nearest library to their location. The AccessMyLibrary iPhone app debuted in December, 2009 and is available in the U.S. and Canada. More via AML's FAQ?

Next, in this announcement (PDF) from Sirsi/Dynix we learn that their iPhone app, BookMyne, now supports catalogs in Spanish, French, German as well as English.

BookMyne library users can find participating libraries around the world, search library catalogs, place holds, and renew materials they have checked out. Libraries can customize their presence on the global directory in a number of ways. BookMyne 1.2 includes expanded language support, as well as options for users to be reminded of material due dates.

More than 300 libraries now offer their catalog on the BookMyne directory. The application is made possible through Symphony Web Services. [Horizon users should be able to use offer the app "later this year" with release of Horizon Web Services]. Library users can download the BookMyne application through the Apple Store at no cost.
