News from Wolfram|Alpha: New Mobile Interface and iPhone App Drops Sharply in Price
The number-one priority of our new Managing Director, Barak Berkowitz, is to get Wolfram|Alpha in the hands of everyone. It’s all about ubiquity. This is an exciting time.
The Wolfram|Alpha Blog contains two items dealing with mobile access to the W|A database.
First, a new mobile interface for "Alpha" is now available at: http://m.wolframalpha.com/ Access and use is free and you can take a look at it on regular web browser
Second, remember the Wolfram|Alpha iPhone/iTouch app? It provides several cool and powerfull features but until very recently it cost $49.99. Now, after a very serious price drop you can purchase a copy for...$1.99.
If you were an early adopter of the app and don't like it you can get a refund.
Those of you with mobile sites might want to consider adding a link to the new mobile version of W|A with a brief explanation of the types of queries it can help with. Also, since the iPhone app is now reasonably priced perhaps a library sponsored class on what the app can do and how to use it might be a program that draws a good crowd especially from science, math, and engineering students and faculty.
In other "Alpha" news, the first issue of the Wolfram|Alpha Community Newsletter is now available. Details here. Access Issue #1.
