Online Databases: Every Medalist in Olympics History & Directory of National Olympics Committees

The other day we linked to an interactive database of athletes participating in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Over the next day or two, plan on several additional Olympics reference resources posted on ResourceShelf.

Let's Begin Now. Here are Two Databases:

1) Olympic Medalists Before the games in Vancouver get underway, this database contains 25,058 medalists.
Users can:
+ View Results with Pictures or Names (You Can Also Limit to Athletes with Photos)
+ Select Gender, Medals, and Records (World or Olympic)
+ Limit to Continent, Country, Sport
+ Select a Time Period
+ OR Search by Athlete Name

Here's What a Results Page Looks Like for an Athlete

2) Database of National Olympics Committees
This database contains Information about 205 National Olympic Committees.
+ Search by Country Name
+ Limit by Country Name and Note the Flag on the Map
+ Limit by Continent

Here's a Results Page for Japan.
Directory info, photos, video, medalists from Japan, Olympic Games in Japan, and the Chance to "Become a Fan" of the Committee (Yes, Social Networking on the Olympics Web Site.
