It was back in August when we posted that Google was beginning to test out Google Caffeine, a new (and faster) method of indexing and presenting results on a Google results page.
Today, Erik Schoenfeld reports on Techcrunch that whille some people are already noticing faster "response times" for their searches, the official Google Caffeine launch will not take place until sometime after the new year (of course, that could be next week.)
More importantly, Schoenfeld does a nice job of summarizing what Google Caffeine will mean for the typical searcher. He writes,
When Caffeine does roll out, what can you expect? Most people won’t even notice. The look and feel of Google results won’t change. Caffeine is an under-the-hood upgrade to Google’s search index algorithms. But it will significantly speed up how fast Google can present results, especially across different media types such as photos and videos.
The rest of the TC post reports on the results of a study of the Caffeine database from September.
