Editor & Publisher and Kirkus Reviews Will Stop Publication; Other Nielsen Trade Papers Are Sold

From a NYT Blog Post:

Editor & Publisher and Kirkus Review, two venerable chronicles of the newspaper and book publishing industries, are closing as their owner, Nielsen Business Media, gets out of the trade publication business.

From AdWeek:

The new company, e5 Global Media, LLC, is acquiring AdweekMedia (which includes Adweek, Mediaweek and Brandweek), The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard. Backstage, The Clio Awards and Film Journal International. E5 Global Media will also acquire the Film Expo business, which includes ShoWest, ShowEast, Cinema Expo International and CineAsia trade shows. The parties declined to identify a purchase price.

Nielsen announced separately it will cease publishing Editor & Publisher and Kirkus Reviews. In a statement it said it plans to continue operating its trade show group and affiliated brands, but will "continue to assess the strategic fit of other publications."

From Publisher's Weekly

As part of the sale of its business to business publications, Nielsen Business Media has announced that it is closing its book review publication Kirkus Reviews as well as Editor & Publisher. No details on the closing have been released yet. Nielsen is selling its major publications, including The Hollywood Reporter and Adweek to e5 Global Media Holdings.
