Elsevier Names New Leader of Science and Technology Division

From the Announcement:

Elsevier announced today the appointment of Youngsuk “Y.S.” Chi, the company’s Vice Chairman, to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Elsevier’s Science & Technology (S&T) Division. The appointment follows the decision by division CEO Herman van Campenhout to accept a new position as CEO of a publicly listed Dutch company early next year. “We wish Herman every success in his new job and thank him for his contributions,” said Reed Elsevier CEO Erik Engstrom.

“Elsevier Science & Technology has a clear strategy and a strong management team. We are very fortunate that our Vice Chairman can step in immediately as CEO of S&T to help that team continue to build on its successful track record,” said Engstrom. Chi will continue to report directly to Engstrom.

Chi, 48, has been Vice Chairman of Elsevier for almost five years. During that time he has led the company’s Global Academic & Customer Relations efforts and has been deeply engaged in S&T’s business. He has more than 15 years of management experience in publishing and technology.

Chi will also continue to serve on the Reed Elsevier Management Committee and to oversee government affairs for Reed Elsevier.
