Yahoo Releases Their Year-End Top Searches Rankings

We said yesterday that it would be a busy few weeks a with year-end lists and reviews coming on what will seem to be an almost daily basis from a variety of sources including the main search engines. At the bottom of the post, we'll list the rankings we have so far.

OK, let's get on with it. For the time being it's Yahoo's turn with their Year in Review 2009. The package is loaded with numerous categories (far to many to post here) but here are a few lists not to miss including: Farewells; Sudden Fame; Obama in the House; Bloggers Roll; Financial Hangovers; and Market Darlings are 1. Facebook; 2.Twitter; 3. Hulu; 4. Bing; 5. iPhone; 6. LinkedIn; 7. Dollar Stores; 8. Palm Pre; 9.Rosetta Stone; 10. Kindle.

Top 10 Searches Overall

1) Michael Jackson

2) The Twilight Saga

3) WWE

4) Megan Fox

5) Britney Spears

6) Naruto

7) American Idol

8) Kim Kardashian

9) NASCAR

10) Runescape

At the bottom of the home page you'll see more lists including: Best Flickr Shots of 09; Best Videos of 09; 09 [Yahoo] Answer Highlights and several more.

Note: We've always wondered how much these lists are "cleaned?" In other words, what about all of the searches that go to Yahoo searching for Google and vice versa. Are they large enough to make a spot on the final list?
