Maryland University Begins Text a Librarian Service

Yet another library, this one academic offering help via text message.

Getting questions answered for research, citations and other library related needs are now as easy as one-two-three.

Punching numbers into a text message is now the extent students and faculty need to go to in order to get questions answered.

“They have to text a question to 66746, and when they send a question they need to start it with ‘ask cook. That is the key word and then it gets sent to us,” Carissa Tomlinson, emerging technologies librarian for Cook Library, said.

he program, Text a Librarian, is new to the University after signing on with the Mosio Incorporated, the owner of the product.
