SkyGrid: A Near Real Time News Ticker for Financial/Business News (And It's Free)

The following post is about a new service with a limited beta. This means you need to register for an invite. If we get any, we will let you know.

Back in January we posted a link to a TechCrunch article about SkyGrid. It's a web-based "Bloomberg like" service. While Bloomberg offers much more in terms of services, SkyGrid offers a never ending stream of financial news headlines about public companies direct to your desktop from traditional and vetted news sources like the Reuters, Marketwatcg and Chicago Tribune as well as well-known and respected blogs. As news happens and stories are published, headlines appear online via the SkyGrid service.

The challenge was this service was only available to subscribers at $500/month.

That all changes today. A free version (limited beta) of SkyGrid is online today monitoring financial news in real-time.

Simply enter your keywords and search and go or browse by topic. Pages refresh with new content as it becomes available. You can also sort results by sentiment. Sharing content can be done at the article level by simply clicking. Share direct to Twitter or via email.

More later after we get a look at the service.

As we said a moment ago, SkyGrid could be home run for the info pro/news geek. We will have to wait and see.
