With some sense of irony, we welcome you the 2008 Financial Crisis Primer. Whether we are law students, lawyers, or just concerned citizens, the current financial crisis affects us all and requires that we have a basic understanding of financial markets and related topics. Many have found ourselves in the position of wondering "How has this all happened so quickly?" Others have more specific questions about the relationship between subprime mortgages, the credit crisis, interest rates, derivatives, and financial regulation.
This website brings together some of the best and most accessible materials related to the crisis. It provides resources such as articles on the failure of regulation, the Congressional testimony of key players, editorials on the government's bailout of banks, books on previous financial debacles, and the voices of people who have lost homes in foreclosures.
We invite you to click on each of the tabs above which will provide you with access to these materials including excerpts from radio and television programming on the topic.
