ALA 2006-07 Annual Report released

The 2006-07 Annual Report is available on the Web by clicking here.

The report includes such highlights as:

* Congress ordering the Environmental Protection Agency to restore its library network, and other work accomplished by the ALA Washington Office, including ALA's active role in the debate over the use of National Security Letters.
* ALA President Leslie Burger's Transformation Summit and related programs.
* The historic " Gathering at the Waters: Embracing Our Spirits, Telling Our Stories," the first Joint Conference of Librarians of Color.
* The creation of ilovelibraries.org.
* The development of the “emerging leaders” program.
* The raising of more than $230,000 in 2007 for the Cultural Communities Fund, an endowment established to support diverse cultural programming in libraries.
* The formation of the Office for Library Advocacy.
* American Libraries magazine marking its 100-year anniversary and the appearance of icon Julie Andrews at the Annual Conference in Washington D.C. to help celebrate that milestone.
* The launch of the e-newsletter, American Libraries Direct.
* The continued success of The Campaign for America’s Libraries, which partnered with Dollar General and the ALA Office for Literacy and Outreach Services to create programs to enhance adult literacy services.
