India is an agricultural country and agriculture is the spinal cord of our rural living. But, in the recent years, agricultural growth has decelerated which is indeed a matter of great concern and the Central and State Governments are implementing a lot of schemes to rejuvenate the agriculture. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research and State Agricultural/Veterinary Universities are striving hard to overcome the problems connected with the agricultural production by generating location specific and need based new knowledge and technologies. Since up-to-date and authenticated information is a vital input required for the development of academic and research activities, most of these organizations have established library and information infrastructure to facilitate the users of the information centres to access Internet and online resources. Though there are thousands of search engines to act as a resource discovery tools on the Internet, the problem of accurate information retrieval continues. The magnitude of the importance of this problem is highlighted by so many studies. The Library and Information professionals are playing a vital role in this area and over the last one decade a large number of virtual libraries have been established which attempt to gather together links to web sites with authoritative, current, trustworthy and useful information...
