Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and Library of Congress, is a long-term effort to create and provide permanent access to a searchable database of U.S. newspapers and digitized pages, selected for their historic content and value. The initial version of this rich digital resource is available from the Library of Congress Web site as "Chronicling America," with full-text access to over 400,000 newspaper pages digitized by LC (contributing Washington, DC papers) and NEH awardees from California, Florida, Kentucky, New York, Utah and Virginia. With ongoing development and cooperation among many groups within the Library and externally, this program is developing innovative ways to best create, aggregate, preserve and serve digital content.
