Murdoch and News Corp. Will Acquire Dow Jones Empire That Includes Factiva & The WSJ

Here's the official announcement.

As you know, Factiva is part of the Dow Jones family.

A Factiva company spokesperson told ResourceShelf today that since the initial agreement was just signed last night, it's too early to comment about the future of Factiva.

In this excellent commentary round-up at PaidContent.org, Staci Kramer links to a comment from analyst Paul Kagan saying that he thinks the Factiva unit will, "surely be sold."

In this post, we trace the history of Factiva, back to the first announcement of what would become the service. That article appeared in the Wall Street Journal on December 17, 1971 and again on September 13, 1973. The service (Dow Jones News-Recall) officially launched in April, 1974.
