New: BBC Adds Audio & Video Search Option & Examples of How One/Two Letters Can Make a Big Difference

BBC search results pages now include a link that reads, "The BBC Audio & Video search is a new service. More content will be added in the future," we know see that the Beeb is offering a new tab on their web search results pages.

The results that you see are a mixture of BBC video and audio content. Each programme and clip will show the date of the clip, the available formats and a brief description of its content.

On the description and overview page
, Auntie Beeb once again makes clear that this is a new service with limited amounts of content.

It appears that searches are being conducted on titles and other metadata surrounding the clip and does not search every work spoken.

Example 1:
An audio/video search for British Library

Example 2
This example also illustrates how a variance in spelling (and the lack of cross-references to bring these like terms together are worth noting. They might be useful for those of you who train searchers.
A) Taliban (U.S. Spelling, 4 pages of results)
B) Taleban (UK Spelling, 54 pages of results)

Example 3
A) "Drunk Driving" (U.S. phrase, 1 result)
B) "Drink Driving" (Expression used elsewhere, 7 pages of results)
