A list we've pointed to many times on ResourceShelf, the awesome Web Video Cheat Sheet, compiled by Phil Harvey at LightReading.com, has been updated for the first time in several months.
The list now offers these data points:
+ Name of Service
+ Property Of (Who Owns the Service, if Available)
+ Can you upload videos?
+ Does the service offer video-editing capability?
+ Single-file size limit?
+ Time Limit
+ Pricing Structure (Most of the services listed are free)
+ Can you keep a video private?
+ Does it require a software download?
+ Can you get paid? (sell access to your video content)
As you'll quickly see, numerous resources exist. It might be a fun exercise in a library setting to have various staff members upload some content (copyright emptor, of course) and then compare and contrast the various services. The topic of video hosting might also make for an excellent seminar at your library.
