The David Sarnoff Library, in Princeton, N.J., received a US $11 346 grant from the IEEE Foundation to help restore a rare collection of papers damaged by floodwaters from an April nor’easter.
Water more than 50 centimeters high flooded the library’s basement, damaging many of its documents, including the Radio Corporation of America’s Divisional Technical and Contract Reports Collection. Its laboratory notebooks, technical reports, and manuals date from 1960 to 1987 at various RCA locations. The material details research on semiconductor processing, design and manufacturing, computer memory and systems, video cameras, satellites, microwave and radar systems, displays, and consumer video technologies.
