Three Ask.com Tidbits & News From Snap, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and Others

Here at ResourceShelf we do our best to cover the major search players as well as smaller web search, specialty search (verticals), and many other information retrieval companies. Although Gary is the Director of Online Info Resources at Ask.com we post interesting tidbits and news items about Ask.com as we also do about other companies. In most cases, when Gary posts about Ask.com we place this content "below the fold" for those who would like to easily skip it. By "below the fold" we mean it requires an extra click to get to the full text from the RS home page.

1) You can now find a direct link to Ask.com's AskCity service that includes local events, maps (that you can mark up and "search inside"), movie info, and business listings directly above the Ask.com search box on web results pages. Examples: 1 ||| 2 . More about AskCity and its "search inside"/markup features in this post.

2) Ask Mobile has been nominated for a Webby Award. You can view Ask Mobile on any web browser by going to http://m.ask.com or if you're using a mobile device, you can simply enter Ask.com and will automatically be redirected to the mobile site. Btw, Ask Mobile offers aerial imagery without having to download any software and is also carrier agnostic. More here.

3) On some search results page you will see Zoom Related Results to reiterate your search in the right-hand column. You might also now see Zoom Search suggestions directly below the organic search results at the bottom of a results page. Examples: 1 ||| 2.
