TellMe Begins Offering Local Business Directory Info PLUS Lists of Other Tellme, Voice Activated and SMS Info Services

+ Tellme tells you where, free of charge (via News.com)
Tellme, recently acquired by Microsoft and a long time player in voice search, is releasing a voice-activated local search tool. SMS local search will also be available. To use Tellme via the phone dial: 1-800-555-TELL
Tellme offers voice activated:
+ News headlines

+ Sports scores

+ Stock quotes

+ Travel (direct Links to rental car agencies)

+ Business listings

+ Entertainment (movies*, horoscopes, ringtones, soap operas, blackjack)
* Movie listings powered by Fandango. For some theaters you can purchase tickets using the voice-activated service. Fandango was acquired last week by Comcast.

++ The SMS (text message) service offers local listings by name or category along with a link to a map. Send a text message to 83556 (TELLM).

Finally, Tellme is also beta testing a client app that's currently available for selected phones on the AT&T and Sprint wireless networks. No go for Blackberry or Treo users at this time.

Note: The RS team has become big fans of the Traffic.com phone alert service that offers customized traffic reports along with voice activated traffic reports (1-866 MY-TRAFC).
