First Beta Release of New AOL Local Search "Enhanced" by MapQuest Now Available

The first beta release of a new AOL Local search product is now online.
Things to look for:
1) Enter query term (sports), a business name, or business category (dentists) in search box.
Enter a query term, such as PIZZA, a business name or the type of business you're looking for, such as plumbers, in the search field.

2)

Select a location to search in by entering a city, state and/or a zip code. You have the option of also specifying a street address, in which case we'll search for locations closest to that address.

3) Sort Results by Distance, Name, Rating. Many entry pages come from AOL's City Guides powered in cases with InfoUSA data.

4) Draggable maps and driving directions from MapQuest. Maps also include aerial imagery and hybrid views. Zoom-in to a specific location by selecting "zoom" link next to each entry.

4) Ads from Google above and below map.

5) If you start with a broad search, let's say by stand and want to refocus your listing without having to rerun the search, simply find the desired location and right-click.

Example search for Bookstores in 90210

A little over 2 years ago
, AOL launched a local search service.

Hat Tip to Adena S. for the help with this one.
