Site24x7.com: Excellent Web-Based Web Site Monitoring Tool Leaves Beta

We first posted a detailed look at Site24x7 last August (while in beta) and have been using it since then. The service comes from Advent the parent company of another set of ResourceShelf favorite tools, (Zoho.com). Like Zoho, even during the beta period Site24x7 was accurate (from what we could tell) and dependable.

Beginning today, the beta period is over and Site24x7 offers two pricing plans. Relax, the fee-based plans are very inexpensive.

+ Free
2 website monitors
60-minute monitoring intervals
Email, SMS, RSS alerts (when a site goes offline, possible defacement, etc.)

++ Fee-Based
Unlimited Site Monitors
Check a site (is it online? changes to the page? defaced?) up to once every 5 minutes

Comparison Chart.

If we understand the fee-based pricing correctly, monitoring an unlimited amount of sites, checking every 5 minutes, would cost
$4.00/U.S./month.

Checking every 10 minutes, would cost $3.00/U.S./month. Actually, right now (during the intro period) you get a 40% discount for the first month. So, the total monthly fee for 5 minute interval checking is $2.40/U.S./month. Also, discounts for paying in advanced (per quarter, 6 months, 1 year) are available.

This is a resource that might not only be useful for webmasters/system types but also for journalists and CI researchers. We used the service quite a bit during the beta period and like all things Zoho, were quite impressed.

Also, you can not only monitor web sites but also web applications to make sure they are working. This is an extra fee but again, inexpensive.

For more about what Site24x7.com provides, check our overview from last August.

A lot of the talk around social media in the last year has been around information overload. Social media has provided us with new and exciting ways to create content. But it has also meant learning new ways to manage and engage with social media tools. Are we teetering on the edge of an information overload precipice?
