Briefs: New York Magazine Launches SMS/Mobile Service; "Revved" Car Search from FyberSearch; New Webmail Beta from AOL

+ New York Magazine Launches Mobile (via Crain's NY Business)
++ You can learn more about the mobile service here or by simply sending a text message to "GoNYC" (46692).

+ Specialty Search Tools from FyberSearch
1) New: Revved Search
Free text search along with a "search generator" with various options (make, model, year) to assist in finding information about automobiles. No typing required. Here's an example of a results page. One thing we would like to see are the sources of the auto prices, mpg estimates, etc.
2) The Lesson Finder

Use The Lesson Finder to find lessons & tutorials about the subject of your choice.

+ AOL Begins Beta Test (Code Name: Cayman) of New Webmail Features

++ One-click to your new messages: The Today page has transformed into the Today "curtain," which you can quickly show or hide. You can choose to view the latest headlines or go immediately to a new message.
++ In-line read and compose: No more popping out each and every message in a new window - unless you want to, of course!
Scrolling list view: No more paging through all of your messages! With Cayman, all of your messages will appear in one scrolling list.
++ New and improved panels: We have included a People Panel with hover controls and short-cuts to email, IM, or edit the contact; a To Do's Panel; and a panel with TMZ.com feeds.
++ Add/Edit folders more quickly
++ Improved contacts: With Cayman, we have included buddy icons and AIM-like hover controls when you roll-over a contact name. You can initiate an IM or email in just one click!
