+ Gmail Now Available to All
The story also talks about new mobile tools for Gmail in the U.K. 2.8 MB available to users. Gmail first launched in a private release almost 3 years ago on April 1, 2004. Many thought it was a joke. Nope. It will be interesting to see if the user base increases now that it's a bit more open. Since the early days, it's been relatively easy to get an invite to join with people offering invites on message boards, discussion lists, etc. In terms of storage size:

+ Inbox.com provides 5GB of email storage for US, CA and UK residents. Elsewhere, 2GB. POP3 & SMTP access.

+ Walla.com, a leading portal in Israel offers 3GB of storage.
Note: After logging into our email space allotment reads that we have 5GB of space. Very basic features. No ads.

+ Groowy.com, 2GB of email storage and a bunch of other web-based tools.

Note: Lycos UK offers several options as well including Lycos Personal for about 2 pounds/month. It offers a free domain name and 10GB of email storage, Send 50MB attachments, no limit to the size of attachments received. U.S. residents appear to have access.
