+ H.W. Wilson's BioENEWS List

...information about the latest developments for our biography databases, including new additions to existing biography databases, forthcoming products, and helpful tips on how to search for the information you want. Be the first to hear about what's new with biographies at H.W. Wilson.

++ Snap Releases Image Search Tool
Note: A quick look at the bottom of an image search results page shows that it's likely PicSearch is powering the image database on Snap.

+++ Blinkx CTO on Video Search
Speaking of Blinkx, they have made a bunch of announcements in the past month, adding partnerships for content with:
+ A&E
+ Rollingstone.com Music Videos
+ Tiscali
+ vpod.tv
+ VMIX
See Also: Two Other Video Search Tools We Like Are:
+ SearchforVideo.com
Metasearch of many video sites. They have content deals with many producers including Discovery Networks, Revver, and grouper. Also a useful video podcast directory and the ability to see new content as it enters the database (at the bottom of the home page).
+ Also Very Cool is Nexidia. They offer transcript search but unlike others who use speech to text or closed captioning, Nexidia breaks the spoken word down into phonetic sounds. More here along with a link to a demo.
+ Finally, other useful tools for video searchers including TVEyes, Critical Mention, ShadowTV and Fednet.net.

+++ From the PictureAustralia Web Site:
Access PictureAustralia through Endnote X

PictureAustralia can now be accessed through the bibliographic software Endnote X. Download the connection file (via FTP) from the Endnote website.
