A "Rethought for Today's Needs" Wall Street Journal Will Debut on January 2, 2007, New Markets Data Center Will Be Free on the Web

A "Rethought for Today's Needs" Wall Street Journal to Debut on January 2, 2007

This letter from WSJ Publisher Gordon Crovitz provides details of what to expect in print and online. The full-text of the letter is available to non-WSJ subscribers at no charge.

From a portion of the letter about WSJ.com:

On January 2, we'll launch a state-of-the-art online Markets Data Center, combining news, data and tools from across Dow Jones. Beyond contributions from the Journal's markets-data group, this new Web site and associated services such as email roundups and alerts will include coverage from Dow Jones Newswires, authoritative data from Dow Jones Indexes, investment tools from our MarketWatch unit and personal-finance tips from our SmartMoney joint venture. The Markets Data Center, which will be available free on the Web, means we can devote more space in the print Journal to value-added analysis of data; we'll continue to cull the routine closing prices we publish as these are increasingly accessed in greater detail online. Our aim is to craft versions of the Journal, across print, online and other digital media, so that you can access our news throughout your day, across the channels that are most useful for the purpose.
