Turning a Yahoo News Search into a Real-Time News Ticker

Turning a Yahoo News Search into a News Ticker

Here's one for the news junkies out there.

A few weeks ago we posted about getting a real-time feed of news images via Yahoo News.

Here's another method that works better and gives you additional options FOR both NEWS (text) and NEWS (image) searching.

It's simple, just search for the * and then sort by date. Then, use your browser and either manually or automatically reload the page every x minutes. You could also (be careful) have this stream delivered via RSS.

Here's a Yahoo News "ticker" search string and one for News Images.

Of course, you can also head to advanced News Search interface and increase the number of results that appear on a page. This search shows 40 results per page.

Another search you can create is limiting to a specific source. This search limits to content from Reuters UK and presents 40 results per page.

We haven't checked every regional version of Yahoo but several regional versions we did check with the * search, appear to work. Examples:
+ Yahoo UK and Ireland
+ Yahoo Canada
+ Yahoo Germany

Don't Forget
Another excellent news aggregator (likely the largest open web database of news) is NewsNow.co.uk offers a Live Feed of content from nearly 27,000 sources. They also offer a real-time feed of Info Tech news releases.
