Also a quiz with National Geographic. From the Rumsey collection web site (the David Rumsey Collection is home to thousands of digitized historical maps). 16 are available via Google Earth.

See 16 historical maps in the Featured Content layer of the Google Earth 3D Globe. The georeferenced maps wrap the virtual globe in their modern spaces, allowing for an exploration of both time and space.
