The Wall Street Journal's Online R&D Lab (With 4 Usable Services) Now Online
Now, even news sources have labs. We've posted about the Reuters Lab several times (we're still not sure about Newsbeats aside from it being unique) and now the Wall Street Journal is online with its online lab. Access here (subscribers only). Projects listed include:
+ WSJ.com screensaver
...headlines delivered in real time to your desktop as a screensaver.
+ MYWSJ.com Beta
This beta version of MyWSJ.com, a new way to personalize the site, includes drag-and-drop customization, new content feeds, and the ability to include RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds from other sites.
+ Right-click search
You can do a quick Online Journal search on any word or phrase on the site without leaving the page. Here's how: Highlight (or define) the word or phrase, and right-click it with your mouse. You'll see WSJ.com search results instantly in a blue box next to where you clicked. You can also turn this off by clicking the link that says "turn this feature off." If you want to restore it, then go to setup center to enable it in your preferences.
+ Summaries in Today's Newspaper
...when you mouse over a headline in our Today's Newspaper feature, you'll see a window pop up with a summary of the article.
Rollover Summaries in Today's Newspaper.
