Webcast: Internet Governance for Development

This panel discussion took place at Oxford University on August 31, 2006

One of the outcomes of the UN-organised World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) was the establishment of a new forum for multi-stakeholder policy dialogue on Internet governance issues. The first Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be convened in Athens from the 30th October to the 2nd November 2006 with the overall theme of 'Internet Governance for Development' and will be organised around the topics of openness, security, diversity and access. This OII event aims to provide a general overview of the IGF and insight into the issues it plans to address.

Speakers:
Markus Kummer, Executive Coordinator, Secretariat of the United Nations Working Group on Internet Governance (tbc)

Kenneth Cukier, The Economist

Martin Boyle, UK Dept for Trade & Industry

John Palfrey (Respondent) Executive Director, Berkman Center for Internet & Society, Harvard Law School
