Open URLs in Separate Windows Returns to ResourceShelf & More Redesign News
A Few Questions Answered about ResourceShelf and DocuTicker Redesign:
After requests from many of you followed by some handy work by the development team, we've reinstated a button that allows YOU to choose to have each link in a post open in a new window. This is precisely what was available before. Look for the "Check This Box To Open Links In Separate Windows" at the very top of the right column of the ResourceShelf and DocuTicker home pages or at the top of each individual entry.
Yes, we do plan to begin categorizing sites as soon as we have a few more things worked out. In fact, coming soon, separate feeds for each topic along with one overall feed. We've already started to categorize posts on DocuTicker. Look for tagged items and separate feeds beginning next month on RS, most likely after the 4th of July holiday here in the U.S. In fact, we're starting to beta test categories today.
All of the major blog and feed search services are now getting "pinged" to our new "feed" urls. For example, the new RSS url for ResourceShelf is now being indexed by Bloglines. Remember, Bloglines (and Ask.com) added a Blog & Feed search function a few weeks ago. Here's a review from Search Engine Watch. Our post on the new Blog & Feed search focused on Bloglines aspects. Each service offers slightly different options. Now you have another way of searching our sites in addition to our improved site search. Btw, in most cases our site search works well. Make sure you notice that in some cases, we've broken results into several pages. Look for the "previous results" link at the bottom of a results page to make sure you're seeing all possible results.
