A report from the recent 2001 Virtual Reference Desk Conference in Orlando. From the article, "After studying seven libraries that provide digital reference services, a team of researchers has concluded that, to improve future projects, better evaluation and assessment methods must be found and implemented." "Usage of such live reference service varies markedly, the study observed, as some libraries field only a few questions a week, while others answer many more. Business-Public Company Filings EDGAR Online To Provide Real-Time Feed To SEC.Gov Site

(Nasdaq: EDGR) announced today it has reached a non-exclusive arrangement with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) whereby the SEC will link its Web site ( http://www.sec.gov) to EDGAR Online for real-time access to SEC filings. The SEC currently posts delayed documents on its Web site. EDGAR Online, Inc. is a provider of financial information derived from U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission data and developer of financial and business systems solutions." Federal Communications Commission FCC Unveils New "Site" Search Tool
From the news release, "The new FCC search engine searches throughout the FCC's web site, collecting information from web pages and many types of documents including Word, WordPerfect, Acrobat, Excel, and ASCII Text. The new FCC search engine also searches the Electronic Document Management System (EDOCS). However, the new search engine cannot collect information from other FCC databases and electronic filing systems, such as the Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS)."
