From the article, "House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., told high-tech industry leaders that unless they can hammer out a compromise position on a common database intellectual property protection bill, House leaders would forge their own version of the measure out of two conflicting pieces of legislation.The IT industry and other database and intellectual property holders remain far apart on their concept of database protections, with many content providers trying to keep their databases proprietary. However, Internet portal sites and other presenters of information want databases to be available under copyright law, so long as they are significantly augmented."
